Powder Mix (Porcellionides pruinosus)

from $10.00

Porcellionides pruinosus "Powder Mix" Isopod Care Guide

Porcellionides pruinosus "Powder Mix" is a lively and fast-breeding group that combines various pruinosus morphs (such as Powder Blue, Powder Orange, Oreo Crumble, and more). It’s one of the best species for bioactive enclosures, cleanup crews, and beginner keepers looking for a colorful and efficient isopod.

Enclosure:
Provide a well-ventilated container with a substrate of flake soil, sphagnum moss, and plenty of leaf litter. Add cork bark and bark pieces for cover and climbing. "Powder Mix" is highly surface-active and thrives with plenty of foraging space.

Temperature & Humidity:
Maintain temperatures between 72-80°F. "Powder Mix" prefers higher humidity (75-85%) with a moisture gradient—keep one side moist and one side slightly drier. Mist regularly to maintain steady humidity.

Feeding:
Feed a base of decaying leaf litter. Supplement with isopod diet, fish flakes, shrimp pellets, and fresh vegetables or fruit. Protein encourages healthy breeding and vibrant coloration.

Behavior:
"Powder Mix" isopods are highly active and extremely fast breeders. They tolerate a wide range of conditions and are ideal for bioactive tanks, cleanup crews, or for anyone wanting a colorful, easy-care isopod colony.
