Cubaris sp. "Panda King" Isopod Care Guide

Cubaris sp. "Panda King" is one of the most popular and striking Cubaris species, known for its bold black and white pattern and compact, roly-poly shape. It is a prized display species that thrives in stable, high-humidity environments—best suited for intermediate to advanced keepers.

Enclosure:
Provide a well-sealed container with adjustable ventilation to maintain consistent humidity. Use a deep, moisture-retentive substrate of flake soil, sphagnum moss, and plenty of leaf litter. Include lots of tight hides—cork bark, clay pieces, and stacked bark—this species appreciates security.

Temperature & Humidity:
Maintain temperatures between 72-78°F. "Panda King" requires high humidity (80-90%) with minimal to no dry areas. Mist regularly to maintain consistent moisture without oversaturating the substrate.

Feeding:
Feed a staple of decaying leaf litter and soft hardwoods. Supplement with isopod diet, fish flakes, shrimp pellets, and occasional fresh vegetables or fruit. Protein-rich supplements support healthy growth and breeding.

Behavior:
"Panda King" isopods are somewhat shy and slow to start but will establish and breed well under stable conditions. They are best kept as a display species, as they appreciate undisturbed, consistent environments.
