Porcellio dilatatus "Giant Canyon" Isopod Care Guide

Porcellio dilatatus "Giant Canyon" is a large, hardy, and fast-breeding isopod species. It is ideal for bioactive setups, cleanup crews, and for keepers wanting a bold and active display species.

Enclosure:
Provide a well-ventilated container with a substrate of flake soil, sphagnum moss, and leaf litter. Add plenty of cork bark, bark flats, and rockwork to give these large isopods room to roam and hide. They are highly surface-active.

Temperature & Humidity:
Maintain temperatures between 72-78°F. "Giant Canyon" prefers moderate humidity (65-75%) with a good moisture gradient—moist on one side, drier on the other. Good airflow helps keep the environment healthy.

Feeding:
Feed a base of decaying leaf litter and soft hardwoods. Supplement with isopod diet, fish flakes, shrimp pellets, and fresh vegetables or fruit. Protein supports fast growth and breeding.

Behavior:
"Giant Canyon" isopods are bold, highly active, and very fast breeders. They tolerate a wide range of conditions, making them excellent for bioactive vivariums and cleanup crews. They’re also fun to observe due to their large size and busy behavior.
