Porcellio laevis "Caramel" Isopod Care Guide

Porcellio laevis "Caramel" isopods are a fast-growing, hardy species known for their smooth bodies and warm caramel coloration. They’re great for beginners, bioactive enclosures, or breeders looking for a reliable colony.

Enclosure:
Provide a well-ventilated container with a substrate mix of flake soil, leaf litter, and sphagnum moss. Add bark pieces or cork flats for hiding spots. They appreciate both surface activity space and shelter.

Temperature & Humidity:
Keep temperatures between 72-80°F. "Caramel" isopods prefer moderate humidity (60-70%) with a moisture gradient. Offer one side of the enclosure that stays moist and another that remains slightly drier.

They are eager eaters! Feed a base of decaying leaf litter and soft hardwoods, supplemented with isopod diet, fish flakes, shrimp pellets, and fresh vegetables. Occasional protein sources help boost breeding.

Behavior:
"Caramel" isopods are very active and breed quickly, making them excellent cleanup crew members for bioactive tanks or fun display colonies. They tolerate a wide range of conditions and are very beginner-friendly.
