Porcellio spinicornis "Brickwork" is a highly adaptable, fast-moving isopod known for its brick-red coloration and distinctive body texture. It is an excellent choice for bioactive enclosures and for keepers who enjoy active display species.

Enclosure:
Provide a well-ventilated container with a substrate mix of flake soil, sphagnum moss, and plenty of leaf litter. Add cork bark, bark flats, and rocky surfaces for hiding. This species is surface-active and appreciates plenty of climbing and foraging space.

Temperature & Humidity:
Maintain temperatures between 70-78°F. "Brickwork" prefers moderate humidity (65-75%) with a clear moisture gradient—offer a moist side and a drier side so they can regulate their environment. Good airflow is important for this species.

Feeding:
Feed a base of decaying leaf litter and soft hardwoods. Supplement with isopod diet, fish flakes, shrimp pellets, and fresh vegetables like squash or carrots. Occasional protein boosts breeding and overall health.

Behavior:
"Brickwork" isopods are very active and bold. They reproduce quickly and tolerate a wide range of conditions, making them a favorite for both beginner and experienced keepers. They are also an excellent choice as a bioactive cleanup crew.
