Cubaris murina "Anemone Splash" Isopod Care Guide
Cubaris murina "Anemone Splash" is a beautiful and hardy morph of the well-known Cubaris murina species, featuring unique splash-like markings. It is one of the more beginner-friendly Cubaris, making it a great choice for both new and experienced keepers.
Enclosure:
Provide a well-sealed container with adjustable ventilation to maintain high humidity. Use a deep substrate of flake soil mixed with sphagnum moss and leaf litter. Add lots of secure hides—cork bark, clay pieces, stacked bark—where they can feel safe.
Temperature & Humidity:
Maintain temperatures between 72-78°F. "Anemone Splash" prefers high humidity (80-90%) with minimal to no dry areas. Mist regularly to maintain stable conditions without waterlogging the substrate.
Feeding:
Offer a staple of decaying leaf litter and soft hardwoods. Supplement with isopod diet, fish flakes, shrimp pellets, and small amounts of vegetables or fruit. Extra protein will support healthy growth and promote good coloration.
Behavior:
"Anemone Splash" isopods are more surface-active than some other Cubaris and breed at a moderate to fast pace once established. They are tolerant of a wider range of conditions than many Cubaris and make an excellent display species.
